Our August Social was AMAZING!!! We had over 75 Golden Angels and friends turn out for a wonderful evening featuring the musical entertainment of the Clark Family Circle! We also recognized longtime Golden Angel, Roger Thibeault, on his 90th birthday celebration! Thank you, Roger, for everything you have done for the Golden Angels and our wonderful parish over the years!!! Keep it up and we'll make another video for your 100th birthday!
And, as always, a huge thanks to our wonderful setup committee, our Board members, and everyone who brought food, donated $$, or helped setup or cleanup!
On August 11th, Frank Cleary drove a bus full of us downtown to the TV Channel 9 Studios, where we were given a wonderful tour of the facilities, including the broadcast studios, and met several of the On-camera personalities too! After the tour, we walked across the street to visit the Clara Luper Sit-In Plaza at the site of the old Katz Drug Store where the incident took place. If you haven't seen it, you should! It's a lifelike exhibition and very moving.
And, after all that, we were starving, so we headed back to MWC for a Mexican lunch at Monterey Jack's. Thank you to Sarah Baxter for arranging our tour, and to Frank Cleary for driving us around!
On the 25th, Frank drove the bus for us again. This time to Moore, where we saw the Blessed Stanley Rother movie, "An American Martyr". Wow! It was so good to see so many people and places that we recognize on the big screen...especially Deacon Javier, Deacon Jim, and Father Wood!

Prayer for September, the month dedicated TO OUR LADY OF SORROWS
O most holy Virgin, Mother of our Lord Jesus Christ: by the overwhelming grief you experienced when you witnessed the martyrdom, the crucifixion, and the death of your divine Son, look upon me with eyes of compassion, and awaken in my heart a tender commiseration for those sufferings, as well as a sincere detestation of my sins, in order that, being disengaged from all undue affection for the passing joys of this earth, I may sigh after the eternal Jerusalem, and that henceforward all my thoughts and all my actions may be directed towards this one most desirable object. Honor, glory, and love to our divine Lord Jesus, and to the holy and immaculate Mother of God. Amen. --Saint Bonaventure
Until next month! Stay active and prayerful!
Margie Madden
