On behalf of all our volunteer Catechists, I want to welcome all the families with children enrolled in R.E. We are so happy to have the children here every Sunday. We have a wonderful, exciting year planned.
For those of you who don’t know me, this is my second year as the Director of Religious Education at St. Philip Neri. I have a Bachelor of Arts in Theology, as well as, over a decade of experience as a Catechist. I taught 1st grade, 2nd grade, First Sacraments, and RCIC. I have been a home school parent/teacher for 17 years and a Cub Scout leader for more than 10 years. I love children and feel that this ministry is my calling.
Each week your child will learn about the Scriptures, the Catechism, and learn their prayers. Your child will learn about their faith and how it relates to their life. Most importantly, we will try to help them have a relationship with Our Lord Jesus Christ through word and example. Encourage your child to tell you what they learned each Sunday and take an interest in any materials or handouts they bring home.
Please help your child(ren) learn their basic Catholic prayers:
The Sign of the Cross, Grace before meals, Glory Be, Hail Mary, and the Our Father.
If your child(ren) are in second grade or older please help them learn and remember:
The Act of Contrition and the Apostles’ Creed.
Attendance is crucial in preparing for the reception of the Sacraments. Please be sure to have your child(ren) in class on time every week. Children who are late are disruptive and they miss out on a lot. Besides, we have so little time with them as it is, every minute counts.
Again, welcome! Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns you may have. My goal is to update this page every month.
