Golden Angels

Purpose and Function of the St. Philip Neri Golden Angels

The SPN Golden Angels organization promotes Spiritual, Educational, and Social growth of the individual members. It undertakes or assists with projects for the good of the Parish and the community. It provides members opportunity to enjoy social, cultural, spiritual and educational activities as a group for the purpose of building up the parish community.

Any parishioner 50 or over is welcome.

The “Golden Angels” is an organization by the seniors and for the seniors of the parish who are 50 years of age or older, or whose spouse is 50 years of age or older. The group has a monthly social with a meal at the church, takes trips to points of interest, has seminars on topics of interest and has Christ as the center of the program.

Other things we do:

- Provide cookies to parishioners after Sunday Masses

- Provide an e-mail newsletter each month

- Promote the exercise classes of the Parish Nurse

PREVIOUS GA EVENTS AND TRIPS: On June 21st, 14 Golden Angels took a trip to Shawnee to the Potawatomi Cultural Heritage Center, followed by lunch in Tecumseh at the Farmers Daughter Restaurant. The weather was great, as was the company, and I think everyone had a nice time.

UPCOMING EVENTS: On Thursday, July 19th, we are having a Painting Party complete with wine and snacks at 6 PM in Felician Hall. We will be painting a cute owl. The cost for this party is $20 and includes all supplies, snacks and drinks. Please sign up on the sheet in the Narthex.

Our Golden Angels Chairman, Jenny Bendrick, has tendered her resignation. Due to her husband’s job, they will be moving to Mustang soon, and so will be changing parishes. The board decided to not replace her at this time, since we will be electing a new chairman in just a couple months, so, until then, Vice-chairman Tony Schones will be the acting Chairman. We wish Jenny and Greg the best! We are looking for new Board members, so please prayerfully consider volunteering!

BOARD MEETING: The next board meeting is scheduled for Monday July 16th at 1 pm.  We meet in the Lamb Room.  You are always welcome to attend.
